It’s been a while since I’ve last been seen posting here.
As the rolly-polly-round mascot of Cre8asite and the hero of this here blog, I guess I need to explain my prolonged absence.
Have you seen the trailers for the new comedy that is rocking the United States this last week - Dodgeball? Maybe you saw me there. I’m one of the stunt doubles on the picture.
After much bouncing, and strenuous activity, I’m ready for some more sedate activities like reporting on some of the recent threads at the forums.
One that captured my attention was in the Usabilty Forum, where a discussion on Engagability was initiated from a link authored by John S. Rhodes of Web Word (if you like usability, it’s a site that you might want to make a regular stopping point.)
Some of the most engagable activity on the thread was the interaction between Desirability advocate John Soellner (DCrx) of Design Crux and Engagability researcher John Knight of User-Lab. There are also some great quips in there from many members of the forum. And there’s room for more.
I’m also bouncing over a new forum at the forums.
It’s off to a strong start, too - Measuring Your Success is a chance to look at the way we track success and failure, how we use statistics to claim success, and how we begin to consider the seemingly unmeasurable.
Part of the impetus behind the creation of the forum was a behind-the-scenes roundtable interview of Clicktrack’s John Marshall, taking a look at the newest version of his company’s analytic software. We have forum moderator James Saunders to thank for great questions, and a wonderful idea for a thread. I don’t know if James realized at the time that we’d build a new forum around his thread.
There are some run-away threads in that new forum, and I’d recommend checking them all out. One of my favorites turned into one of the most philosphical threads we’ve had, taking a close look at the nature of Art and Science and noting similarities and differences. The thread is … but I don’t want to measure
If you know why people leave commentary on blog entries and articles, and how to get them to leave more, we need your help. There are no prizes for answers, but you can win the admiration and respect of other participants over there. Plus, thread starter ILoveJackDaniels has a kicking site that should get more comments.
While I’m pointing out forum member sites, I do want to let everyone know that Forum founder and inspiration Kim Krause has a new site to help people get their sites on target called Usabilty Effect. She has some great articles over there, so stop on by and take a look.
There are plenty of other excellent posts, but I’m running out of steam. The Hollywood lifestyle can ruin you. And my jetlag is kicking in. Before I bounce back to the top of the page, I want to point out my favorite recent top ten list on how to work with a client in the site planning stages, and what you should be prepared for at that time.
Thanks a lot. Welcome to the summer, and I’ll see you at the movies.
