Back in the year 2000, I worked on a presentation for an employee recognition ceremony for an organization of a couple of hundred people. The theme that we chose to use for the handing out of awards was the Olympics.

I had a lot of fun putting together pictures and images, and was really proud of my merging of “2000″ with the Olympic rings. I can only imagine the work that gets done in preparation for the actual Olympics.

A post at Design Observer titled The Graphic Design Olympics gave me a glimpse of what that might be like. It’s filled with some great links to graphics of logos and other images from Olympics past. I have to say that I really like the 1968 logo.

Another look at Olympic graphics is The Olymperials, which has more than 1800 original Olympic posters from 1896 through 2006. It’s great being able to look at the progression of more than a century’s worth of design.
