There’s a real chance to learn from some very good project managers these days.

Quite a few of them are starting conversations on the web, and offering suggestions and ideas on what they do. ILoveJackDaniels post earlier today gave a great insight on what it’s like to be a programmer on a project team, and pointed to an article that suggests the proper temperment for a project manager.

Inspired by that, I visited the blogs of a few project managers I know of to see if I could point out some other ideas on what makes a good project manager.

Back in April, Hal Macomber celebrated the second anniversary of his site, Reforming Project Management, with a list of Ten Rules for Project Managers. After reading his ideas on project managment, I thought that they would be a nice addition to ILoveJackDaniel’s post.

They are a positive set of guidelines for a project manager to follow, that enable a project team to work together effectively to meet the objectives of their clients. (Found via Frank Patrick’s Focused Performance Business Blog, which has some pretty useful suggestions for project managers, too.)
