It’s easy to tell when someone has copied something that you’ve written, but maybe not so easy when the copy is of a design or image.
A post at Design Observer, Bird in Hand: When Does a Copy Become Plagiarism explores this topic.
It’s a subject worth considering carefully. While the author doesn’t mention web sites, you may find yourself coming across an occasional site that seems to be “inspired” by another site.
There’s a number of links in the post worth looking at. I’ll pinpoint one of them, because I found it pretty interesting. A New Yorker article titled Something Borrowed: Should a Charge of Plagiarism Ruin Your Life?
The comments are enlightening, including one from one of the photographers in question, a discussion of Bill Gates recent statement involving “copy communism.” the difference betwen plagiarism and copyright infringement, and a number of other related topics.

Copying, Stealing are very common in an art work as no one register them self under copyright act. And the fraud takes full advantage of that. As an example take music directors they copy the tunes and just say” I did not copied I have just taken the inspiration from there. We should stop such type of activities by not purchasing such cassettes and CDs. Only then we can stop such foolish things.
