Spring means rebirth. At Cre8asiteforums, in celebration of any excuse to celebrate, we focused on “green marketing” this week in honor of Earth Day. Testing interest by the Cre8tive Community and web site owners of earth-people-friendly web sites has been fascinating.
We made some new friends and opened our doors to those who feel strongly about making positive contributions to the planet and people. Since the forums are about web site development, it made sense to showcase web sites that wanted to take advantage of our relaxed promotion rules by submitting their web site to the Cre8Green Directory.
In our continued focus on “Building Better Web Sites Together, For a Better World”, Ablereach asked, Is Cause Marketing Different?
Is a green business’s green focus just another Unique Selling Position. If you have or help with a locally oriented green business, does your site make use of international concerns on green issues? Why or why not? Is community-building more important for green businesses? We are waiting for your opinions.
Risa brought this situation to the Community - Website.com Or Www.website.com In Print Ads
I ran a 1/6th page ad (2″ x 4-1/2″) in a print magazine last month. I wrote my website name to fill the width of the ad as Website.com. I got a call last week from a person who saw the ad and wanted to know what my website address was.
Sample responses:
Lyle: personally, while I can see (and, as a techie, understand) that not all websites start with www, I think it’s better to assume that for Joe Public *all* websites start with WWW.
Mari: I recently was without the internet (Aaaaaaaaaaaah, shock, horror, it was HORRIBLE !!!) and had to, first time in years, resort to looking through a Yellow Book/Pages for stuff (sorting out a house in need of some tlc in Florida) so I looked for companies that had a website, as I figured they may be more reputable if they have a website (ha ha - different story !!) needless to say I didn’t read every ad, I just scanned for the www because it jumps off the page to me.
More:
EGOL: I think that Website.com was fine. People do not read…
Iamlost: “The ‘www’ says web or internet immediately. It acts like a logo for the web. …
bwelford: … always www. .. make sure that all back links you may get are to the same URL.
SEOIgloo: … for a quilting magazine … that www signifies a web address to them.

EGOL believes that the ability of a title tag and description tag to pull an unusual number of clicks in the SERPs is one of the most powerful parts of SEO. He suggests that it can certainly yield traffic, put people in a certain mood… and the search engines might count it as part of the ranking algo. He offers some examples of clickable titles, and challenges us to share our own.
