Well, well, well. It’s a lovely spring day, or so I’m told, and it looks like the Americans among us have survived tax day again. (Dragonlady7 was grumbling that by the time she got to the post office, all the stamps they had left said “I Love You” on them. How nice, a love letter to the IRS.) Ahh, spring, when a young forum mascot’s thoughts turn to… hyperlinks. What better time to go blogrolling?
For those of us who are literally round, there’s more actual rolling involved in that than for the rest of you. I thought I’d trace out some of my blog-perambulations for the rest of you to follow if you can. (Sometimes I bounce more than roll.)
Over at Blog Business World, Wayne Hurlbert welcomed our new blog with a thoughtful post on blogging and forums. Thank you, Wayne. Search engines may like blogs, but the links between blogs are nice ways to create conversations, too.
I would like to state here for the record that Cre8asite’s a lot more than an SEO forum, and has been since the early days as a Yahoo! Group. We have always been “into” blogging, and indeed we’ve given blogs their own forum since day one. That forum’s still going strong, debating topics from “What is the purpose of a blog?” to how to configure the perfect blog setup. We’ve just added on an RSS and Syndication section to it, because the technologies overlap so much.
So, not only are SEO folks starting to embrace blogs as a tool, but SEO bloggers are just starting to notice that we’ve been embracing them for ages now.
The Design Observer tackles how people (or maybe just Americans) like to talk about writing in How to Say What You Mean. How do you work visual communication into your designs?
Dive into Mark takes on Google, or at least Google’s Gmail, for its failure to be accessible to blind users in I dream of Gmail. An update notes that Google has reponded to his post. Hmmm.
Accessibility doesn’t just mean seeing if your site can be read by a screen reader (though that’s not a bad idea). The Signal vs Noise article What’s accessible Accessibility is some interesting writing on the subject.
Seth Godin points out an excellent new blog that lives up to it’s name. Take a look at Worthwhile, and you’ll see what I mean.
Confusability tells us that Microsoft is blaming usability for some security flaws in Windows XP.
Not a blog, but an interesting article by the author of one of the blogs in our blogroll is the Boxes and Arrows article Card sorting: a definitive guide. If you’ve ever had problems trying to figure out the best way to structure and sort a site, this one is one way to approach it.
Well. Have you had enough rolling? I’m getting a little dizzy, actually. I might stop there.
Yes, I think I will.
Signing off,
Bluebert

Thanks for the mention of Blog Business World. I apologize for not mentioning that Cre8asite has always been a strong supporter of blogs. I never really intended to give that impression. My intention was more to highlight the expansion of blog coverage.
And of course, the forums go far beyond SEO as well.
I hope we can work together in the future to cre8ate even more support for blogs.

Hi Wayne.
No need to apologize. We were ecstatic to be mentioned over at the blog business world. It’s always wonderful to get such a positive welcome when you start something new. Thank you for that.
Yep. More blogs = better world.

Thanks Bill. Actually, it was the expansion of the blog forum on cre8asite that gave me the post idea in the first place.
