Matt Cutts Crashes Dark Arts Session

Filed under The Tiki Bar is Open by Kim Krause Berg on December 7, 2007.

Granted, the story originated with one person’s view of what happened, but it sounded so juicy it was impossible to ignore.

Cre8asiteforums members, who weren’t there, had much fun imagining what it may have been like when Google’s Matt Cutt’s appeared at a session on paid links at Pubcon and, by some witness accounts, cast an evil spell on the panelists.

Matt Cutts Shows Up, Panelists Freeze

It is a tale of excitement and woe, of secret handshakes and loose lips, the drama of good and evil writ large and played out on the seminar floor…

Still Going….and going…Pierre Far Added As New Moderator Number Three

Filed under The Tiki Bar is Open by Kim Krause Berg on March 1, 2007.

We’re on a roll at Cre8asiteforums. Next up is Pierre Far (aka “eKstreme”), to the moderating team. He is the third new moderator added this week.

Pierre is a long-time member of the community, who has strong “fan base” in the search engine marketing industry. Noted for his SEO tools, Pierre is also that “geneticist turned webmaster” guy.

He will be moderating the Google, Yahoo! and PPC forums, as well as adding his support to the growth and personality of Cre8asiteforums.

You’re invited to welcome Pierre and share in the celebration.

Are we done adding moderators yet?

Cre8asiteForums Celebrates Third Anniversary

Filed under The Tiki Bar is Open by Kim Krause Berg on August 29, 2005.

“One of the things that sets Cre8asiteForums apart is how we handle tough topics. Privately, the staff here has been thanked on many an occasion for how we attempt to keep the integrity of a person or company intact during a rough public moment.

We believe that opinions are a good thing, and sharing one’s thoughts and ideas with openness, a willingness to listen to other people and a disciplined non-attachment to one’s own views makes for a pleasant experience for everyone on the boards. “

Netcraft Goes after Phishing Attacks

Filed under The Tiki Bar is Open by Bill Slawski on December 29, 2004.

If you’re like me, you might already have a couple of toolbars attached to your browser of choice.

The thing is though, they are all useful in their own way.

Another one that just came out is the Netcraft Anti-Phishing Toolbar.

This is the type of tool that can help stop phishing attacks, where con men use logos from banks and other businesses in deceptive spam to try to steal your personal information. A Tutorial from Netcraft helps explain how to use the toolbar most effectively.

Nice stuff.

Cre8asiteForums Offers Members News Feed Option

Filed under The Tiki Bar is Open by Kim Krause Berg on December 20, 2004.

The staff at Cre8asiteForums have had the ability to scan RSS feeds that we’ve subscribed to, but this was available to us “backstage”. One of our Tech Admins, Stock (aka “Grumpus”), came up with the idea of trying to find a way to offer it to all members, but there were some hurdles to overcome first.

Today he’s announced and launched the new RSS to Posts option.

The idea is that if members see something there, they can start off a discussion in this new forum and discuss it with the other select members that have also subscribed to this separate forum (this is free by the way.)

Happy Birthday ILoveJackDaniels!

Filed under The Tiki Bar is Open by Bill Slawski on September 7, 2004.

We’ve been blessed at the Cre8asite Forums with a Technical Administrator whose programming skills are the technical equivalent of angels dancing on the head of a pin.

He also likes a little Jack Daniels.

A year ago, he launched his present website, which shares his forum nickname, ILoveJackDaniels.com.

I’m sure that he would really appreciate some birthday wishes for his website. In the most personal post on his pages that I’ve seen, he discusses the birthday his site shares with the whiskey, the redesigns his site has seen, his efforts to get more comments, and his thoughts about blogging.
