Massive advertising for a free product - MSN Search

There’s a certain irony that Microsoft has to use a great deal of non-Internet marketing to make people aware that it now has a new Search Engine. That came to my attention from an item at Threadwatch.org entitled, “MSN’s Ad Campaign to Hit 90% of US Households 40x in 8wks”. Indeed using any paid advertising to get you to use a free search engine has a certain irony too.

The target here, of course, is Google since Yahoo! seems to have lost some steam lately. It’s a resounding confirmation of the value of what Google has created.

Personally, I cannot wait until Microsoft actually acquires Yahoo - making it a very attractive alternate to using google for search exclusively.
