While you’re in the Forums, refresh that browser and take a look at our lovely new Mother’s Day logo. Sweet!

Vancouver-based business networking and technology forum Tazzu hosted Vancouver’s first official WordPress Camp last Wednesday, showcasing the great features of WordPress as both a blogging platform and a content management system. The event, which was expected to bring in about 30 people, had a turn out of over 90 at The Network Hub in Downtown Vancouver, but everyone was more than happy to sit knee-to-knee to learn, share and be inspired.

Spring means rebirth. At Cre8asiteforums, in celebration of any excuse to celebrate, we focused on “green marketing” this week in honor of Earth Day. Testing interest by the Cre8tive Community and web site owners of earth-people-friendly web sites has been fascinating.
We made some new friends and opened our doors to those who feel strongly about making positive contributions to the planet and people. Since the forums are about web site development, it made sense to showcase web sites that wanted to take advantage of our relaxed promotion rules by submitting their web site to the Cre8Green Directory.

At Cre8asiteforums, we’re still celebrating web sites whose primary goal is to give back. During our week long focus on “green marketing”, Earth day topics and willingness to let volunteers and non-profits show us their projects, we launched the Cre8green Directory.
Check it out and if you meet the criteria, contact us for inclusion. We’d love to meet you and hear about your project.
We honor you this week.

Cre8asiteForums encourages web developers to support “green” awareness and nonprofits. This first Earth Day since opening a forum dedicated to Green Marketing, Conscious Web Dev and Nonprofits, we’re trying something new. We’ll be celebrating Earth Day, April 22nd, with a week-long “green” focus. The most unusual facet will be that we’re temporarily loosening some of our usually strict policies about self promotion. We want to make it easier for the community to come in and share about how their projects inspire awareness of our environment and sustainable use of resources.

Google officially stated the other day that they’ll be crawling through HTML forms. It’s an interesting move — their stated goal is to increase their coverage of the web by adding this new aspect to their crawling. I’ll note right away that this is not an immediate general addition to their crawling practices:
Only a small number of particularly useful sites receive this treatment, and our crawl agent, the ever-friendly Googlebot, always adheres to robots.txt, nofollow, and noindex directives. Google Webmaster Central Blog

As founder and administrator for Cre8asiteforums, I announced two days ago to our Members that the moderating and site administration staff were taking time off, away from their daily duties. It seemed appropriate that after over 5 years of dedication, it was time to set aside some time for a little break.
As stated in my post, Cre8asiteforums Staff Taking Time Off,
Each of us is more than our work. Our passions are as varied and unique as ourselves. The moderators and I are growing in our awareness for how our work affects our world. Our business practices, for example, reflect on our respective industries. We understand that our best practices beliefs apply to how we interact with our world and everyone we meet.
