More New Moderators Round Out Our Team

The momentum continues as Cre8asite Forums welcomes in another pair of talented and dedicated moderators. In the words of Kim Krause Berg, they are the “mysterious, delightful and brilliant, iamlost” and the “creative, ambitious, courageous online businesswoman, RisaBB.”

Getting To Know Iamlost

When I asked iamlost for some background information I could use in a blog post, he graciously provided this introduction:

After 20 years in B&M business, half spent mucking about with computers, I joined the early web development craze specialising in backends with a sideline in glitzy 3-D revolving product images. Following the bursting bubble I expanded into site architecture, optimisation, and full facial design: an holistic developer was born.

Are You Interested In Ecommerce?

A moderator’s query about if Cre8asite should start a section specifically for ecommerce is leading to a small debate about how ecommerce information could be defined, found and organized for our audience.

Would an ecommerce area become a junk drawer, or could it serve as a clearing house? Diane Vigil of Developed Traffic weighs in:

Ecommerce, though, is another bird altogether, and there are many issues that aren’t really about design or programming. We do a fair number of shopping carts and, again, there are many issues that would benefit from their own forum. Right now, they’re strewn about in Usability, Web Design, Web Programming, marketing … etc. I mean, really, where would you put a thread about SSL certificates?

Should Your Global Web Site Consider Local SEO?

Filed under Business & Marketing by Kim Krause Berg on March 4, 2008

When your customers or visitors are local, it makes sense to promote your web site to places where the local community will be most likely to look for and find it. Should you bother with local SEO if your web site targets a global market?

In Does Your Business Qualify For Local Seo? Miriam Ellis, of Solas Web Design, writes,

If you serve globally, but also have a physical location from which you can serve locally, Local SEO can be used as a form of keyword expansion that will get you ranking for additional terms that do relate to your business.

Cre8tive Flow’s New Design

First, I want to make some comments on the reasoning behind this redesign. It’s not that there was particularly anything wrong with the old design — except that Wordpress is a far more sophisticated product now than it was when that site was designed, and we wanted to be able to take advantage of newer and improved features. With this new layout, we’re making use of “widgetized” space to create a more flexible and (hopefully) intuitive blog for Cre8asite Forums.

Thanks to Adrian for his work on the previous design!

As if his fiance, Geraldine, hasn’t had to pinch herself already after being asked to marry Rand in front of half the planet, she now gets to faint for Oprah. Well…that’s what I would do. She’s much braver than I am.

Well-known SEO, Rand Fishkin, of SEOMoz.org and his lovely Geraldine, fly out soon for a taping of the Oprah Winfrey show. The topic? LOVE. It’ll air on Valentine’s Day.

Wedding plans are in full swing for these two. Can’t imagine how Rand is going to top this!
